Who you're letting in.
A plasterer, a long-standing colleague, and twelve years of other people's houses.

“I'd rather spend the extra hour on the prep than have you looking at a bad wall for the next ten years.”John Cranston
Cranston Plastering has been working across this part of the country since 2014. In that time 116 customers have taken the trouble to write a review, and the thing they mention most often isn't the plaster at all — it's that we left the house clean.
That tells you something about what actually worries people when they let a trade into their home, and it's why it's the first thing on this website rather than a footnote. Dust sheets down, a saw with extraction on it, and the room hoovered before we go.
The move to micro cement
A few years ago we trained in micro cement with Luna Plaster and Satori Finishes before taking a single job in it. It's the most interesting work we've done — seamless, waterproof, and in most cases it goes straight over the tiles that are already there. It's where most of our new enquiries now come from, and it's the direction the business is heading.
What hasn't changed is everything else. We'll still come and skim your ceiling and take that artex off. That's what built this business and it's still most of what we do.
Stephen
Stephen Wall has worked with Cranston Plastering for ten years. In John's own words: “Not only is he a great friend but he also turns out this quality of work. I wouldn't be without him.” Customers name him in their reviews, which for a second pair of hands on a domestic job tells you most of what you need to know.
How we work
Quotes usually go out the same day you ask. We come and look at the room rather than pricing blind off a description, because a photograph doesn't tell you what a wall is doing. If a job isn't right for us, or isn't right for the material you've asked about, we'll say so rather than take the work and hope.
Nearly half of what we do now is for people we've plastered for before, or someone they've sent. That's the part we're proudest of, and it's also the reason we're careful — this only works if the last job was good.
What we hold to
Four things, each one measurable in the reviews rather than invented for a website.
Cleaner than we found it
Dust sheets, extraction on the saw, and the room hoovered before we leave. The single most-mentioned thing in his reviews, ahead of the finish itself.
There when we said
Quoted quickly, turned up on the day. The most common thing customers write about after the finish itself.
A straight answer
Can it go over your tiles? Yes, if they're solid. If it won't work we'll tell you that instead of quoting for it.
The same hands
Not a rotating crew of subcontractors. The people who quote the job are the people who do it.
Where we work
Based in Stamford, working across Stamford, Peterborough, Market Deeping, Deeping St James, Spalding, Oakham, Rutland, Bourne, Oundle and the surrounding villages. If you're just outside that, ask anyway — it depends what else we have on nearby.
Tell us about the room.
Most quotes go out the same day. Call, WhatsApp, or send the form — whichever suits you.
